Lugnuts Tint Blogs
When it comes to window tint one of the biggest debates is about which tint you should get, ceramic or non-ceramic. If you don't know much about tint you might have questions like: What is ceramic tint? What is the difference between ceramic and non-ceramic? Which one is better? Don't worry because today we will answer those questions.
What is ceramic tint? Ceramic tint is window tint that uses microscopic ceramic particles to coat the film to give it color and its benefits, VS dyed tint where the film is dyed to get its color and benefits.
What is the difference between ceramic and non-ceramic (dyed) tint? In most cases dyed tint is used just for looks as the dye usually doesn't provide many great benefits and can fade in the case of cheaper dyed tints. Ceramic tint is made to maximize infrared rejection to keep you and your vehicle cool. Ceramic tint is also more expensive but it does last longer and doesn't fade over time.
Which one is better? It seems like ceramic is almost better in every way which it mostly is, why would you bother getting dyed over ceramic? Everything mentioned above is true in most cases with cheaper dyed tint and quality ceramic; However, 3M has very high quality tint for both dyed and ceramic. In the case of the two options we provide at Lugnuts Garage the Obsidian and Ceramic IR series window tints are very similar in their benefits. If you take a look at the charts below you will notice that due to its design the ceramic tint does provide much better infrared rejection thus making it better if you want maximum heat resistance but the other benefits are fairly close between the two. In the end it is all up to you, if you want tint with good benefits then go with our Obsidian tint. If you want to keep your vehicle as cool as possible then go with ceramic.
No matter which one you decide to go with you will love it, guaranteed.
